Smidge collects very little about you. You can play every game without an account, and we never sell your information. This policy explains what we do collect and why.
Smidge (playsmidge.com) is run by Omni Creative Co. ABN 64 182 070 433, Queensland, Australia.
What we collect
When you play. We record anonymous usage data: which pages, games and Loops you open and roughly how long you play, whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, your country (worked out from your connection; we don't keep your IP address), the website that sent you to Smidge, and when you share a game. Your browser keeps a random ID so we can tell a returning visit from a new one. None of this is linked to your name or email. We use it to count plays, understand how Smidge is used and show creators how their games are doing.
On your device. Your chosen character and some game progress are saved in your browser's storage on your own device. This stays on your device and isn't sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
When you submit a game. The upload form collects your name, your email, your game's name, links you give us and any notes. We use these to review your game, contact you and credit you on Smidge.
When you email us. We keep your email and what you sent so we can reply.
Technical logs. Like any website, our hosting provider may process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
Cookies and advertising
Smidge shows ads through Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to Smidge and other sites. You can opt out of personalised ads at https://adssettings.google.com, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at https://www.aboutads.info. Visitors in Europe, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. For more, see how Google uses data from sites that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information. We share it only with:
- Service providers that run Smidge for us: Netlify (hosting and data storage), Google Workspace and Google (AdSense). They may store data outside Australia, including in the United States.
- Game creators, who see combined stats about their games (like total plays), never who played.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
Kids
Smidge isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Players don't need to give us any personal information to play. If you think a child under 13 has sent us their details, email us and we'll delete them.
How long we keep it
We keep submission details while your game is on Smidge and for a reasonable time after, in case you come back. Anonymous usage data is kept so we can see how Smidge changes over time. It never includes your name, email or IP address.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete any personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@playsmidge.com. If you're not happy with how we handle a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We'll update this policy as Smidge grows and change the date at the top when we do.
